College Signing Day - 2008

So, after a up and down season of College football, it's that time of year to figure out where these new kids are going. With the coaching issues that plagued many of the top programs decisions changed, commitments reversed, and a whole bunch of middle fingers thrown up to certain coaches. In a reflection of the imbalance of this past season, the number 1 rated overall recruit has postponed his decision. Terelle Pryor can not only misspell his own name, but can not decide what school to go to. But can you blame the kid? The coaching situation in the NCAA has been more turbulent than Ike and Tina's marriage. I say he's just playing his cards close to the vest, making sure he doesn't completely screw up his future, with coaches like Bobby Petrino running around this level, I'd question even playing for a coach that hasn't been there for more than 5 years. God, I'd even question someone that spouted team accountability and responsibility to your teammates. Just stay in high school Terelle.

NCAA Football Bowl Games 2007 - Taking a Breather from the action

Taking a small intermission from my strenuous vaca, I dropped back in Phoenix to put in some face time with the my newly graduated brethren, before I get to witness another New Years Eve on the Vegas strip.  Oh yes I will be ringing in the New Year on the road which will be the most Urinated-on piece of asphalt on the West Coast.  Anyways...the last week or so has been mediocre in terms of bowl games - awesome for me in the football pools though - with the exception of the Purple Pirates of ECU taking some glory from Boise State, so Bones and 4real - don't ever question me picking ECU for a round of NC dubs ever again.  Also, Central Michigan - who I'll admit I never followed or knew about - gave Purdue a little scare, boasting how underrated C. Mich is or the fact that Purdue truly does suck.  I'll stick with the latter.  Things to look forward to:

-The coaching scandals affecting bowl games

-The Water Boy actually playing for Florida State

- Joe Pa coaching his 500th bowl game as a puppet

-The Lop-Sided Rose Bowl

-Oklahoma taking a dump on WVU's chest

Cason's Stock Keeps Improving

The AP All-American team was released and one of two First Team CBs was none other than Arizona's own Antoine Cason. 'Toine keeps racking up post-season awards and accolades and will definately be moving up on some team's draft boards who are in need of secondar help. Congratulations once again in order for Mr. Cason, Tucson's first All-American since (I believe) 1998's Chris McAllister.

Other notables include Colt Brennan (3rd in Heisman voting) as the 3rd Team All-American Quarterback, Chase Daniel (4th in voting) 2nd team QB, and first Tim Tebow. Darren McFadden and Kevin Smith (not Silent Bob) highlight the remaining first team backfield. Kevin Smith is Central Florida's first All-American since the program's inception 11 years ago. Mizzou's Michael Rucker at TE, Michael Crabtree and Jordy Nelson (K State) round out the Offensive skill sets at WRs. With the first team line being led by (most likely) top 10 pick, Jake "I'm not Howie's Son" Long and filling out with Anthony Collins at the other tackle, Duke Robinson and Martin O'Donnel as the interior offensive lineman, and center Steve Justice. True Feshman Jeremy Maclin made the First Team as the All-purpose player and Scum Devil kicker Thomas Weber rounds out the offensive First Team.

As for Defense, being led by Arizona stand out Cason, the Interior defensive lineman feature all everything DT Glen Dorsey (who I think just got another award for his play this season) and Sederick Ellis. The Exterior lineman being led by Chris "Howie's Son" Long from Virginia and George Selvie. Dan Connor, James "Road Warrior Animal's kid" Laurinaitis, and Jordan Dizon fill in the linebackers in the AP's fictional 4-3 set. And the DB's include Cason and Aqib Talib at the Corners and Craig Steltz and Jamie Silva filling in at the Safety position. Kevin Huber set for the team's Puntin Unit.

Congratulations are in order for every member of this team.

Random Ramblings

Sore Throat today, which means that making 40-50 phone calls is not my idea of a good time. So in an effort to kill time at work between the occasional call here is a list of things that are going through my head.

If you haven't read my proposed NCAA playoff system, I would suggest it, if you have read it and think I'm wrong, or an idiot, please email me and let me know. CTDomschke@gmail.com. It will become much more clear when the regular season is over and conference champions have been decided. Also it would take some schedule adjustments that I am essentially ignoring in this primary bracket, but let's be honest who doesn't want to see Hawai'i get a shot at Mizzou or West Virginia, the combined score would be over 100, and Brennan and White/Daniel would combine for at least 80 but more likely 90+ passes in the game. It's a shame that game won't ever happen, and especially not before the Heisman voting.

Last night I watched the movie Never Been Kissed, not my choice I hate Drew Barrymore. Does anyone else have a problem with the fact that the teacher has a romantic interest in the student (Drew) and then actually gets angry that she lied about being 17. We're supposed to find this romantic? And Molly Shannon as always makes me wish very bad things for her.

Speaking of very bad things. Is it just me or does every man picture that movie happening at their bachelor party?

Apparently Tood Sauerbrun is pulling a Kevin McHale and secretly helping out his old team. The "Former" Bear said the Broncos would kick to Devin Hester and that they were paid money to make tackles. Apparently, he wasn't referring to himself since he botched a tackle on Hester's punt return. 21 of the Bears points Sunday were the result of the "Former" Bear. A Kick Return TD, Punt Return TD, and a TD run for A.P. a few plays after the Blocked Sauerbrun punt deep in Bronco territory.

Good News for whoever draws Kansas in a Bowl Game. The team that was #2 and lost (which has happened a few times this season) has gone on to lose their next game (in the cases of Oregon to UCLA, BC to Maryland) their next 2 games in the case of South Florida to UConn and Cinci, and Cal to UCLA and ASU.

Let's see 5 days since he started practicing again, 6 carries later in game and...he's done for the year. Let's hear it for Ricky Marley err Williams. 758 yards on 174 carries over the last 3 seasons for a total of 4.36 yards per carry with 2 100 yard games. Probably what was expected of the former Heisman Trophy winner. Ladies and Gentlemen the ultimate me-first player.

And I was just informed that I can get fired for blogging at work.
